  • • Do you install tankless water heaters?
  • Yes, Click's Plumbing installs tankless water heaters. We are a certified installer of the top 2 brands out there.

  • • What is the life expectancy of a water heater?
  • Tank type water heaters will usually last anywhere from 9-15 years. There are several factors to consider such as brand, water quality, house water piping, and amount of usage. Each situation is unique. Tankless water heaters are projected to last 20-30 years. But there again you have to consider all the factors involved. Click's Plumbing would be glad to assess your personal situation and provide more specific direction.

  • • Why does my water heater pop and rumble?
  • Your water heater probably has a high amount of calcium buildup and mineral deposits in the bottom of the tank. The heat from the burner has to work its way through before it can actually heat the water. You are probably hearing the deposits popping as they are heated. This is an excellent sign that your water heater needs to be replaced before it develops a leaking tank which can be catastrophic. But at this stage the efficiency of the water heater has been dramatically reduced. You are using a lot more gas to heat less water. You should have your water heater inspected by Click's Plumbing.

  • • Why do I run out of hot water after just one shower?
  • The most common cause is that your water heater probably has a high amount of calcium buildup and mineral deposits in the tank. You have lost some actual capacity as well as increased the actual recovery time to heat incoming cold water. The efficiency of the water heater has been dramatically reduced. You are using a lot more gas to heat less water. You should have your water heater inspected by Click's Plumbing.

  • • Isn't an "energy star" tank water heater just as good as a tankless water heater?
  • While an energy star tank water heater is more efficient than a regular tank, it still does not match with the efficiency of a quality tankless water heater. Also, with a tankless unit you will never run out of hot water.

  • • How come my pilot light won't stay lit?
  • There could be several things causing this problem. Possible issues are venting, clogged filter, or thermostat controller. This water heater should be inspected by Click's Plumbing to give an accurate diagnosis.

  • • Why do I have to do the extra upgrades if it's been fine for 15 years?
  • Plumbing codes change over the years due to actual problems that have occurred. The codes are in place to protect the health and safety of the public. Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean that it won't. Do you want to find out the hard way why the changes must be made? Gas

  • • What do I do if I smell gas?
  • If the smell is inside, check your appliances in the area. If the appliances seem fine then you should open your windows to help vent the area to avoid buildup. If the smell is outside, then you should stay clear of the area. In either case, you should get away from the area and call Click's Plumbing. We can test your complete system and find where the leak is coming from. We can then repair the problem and have you back up and running. The gas company cannot repair the problem for you. They can only turn you off and tell you to call a plumber.

  • • Do you work on natural gas systems?
  • Yes, Click's Plumbing can work on your natural gas system.

  • • Do you work on propane gas systems?
  • Yes, Click's Plumbing can work on your propane gas system.

  • • Do you do gas leak tests?
  • Yes, Click's Plumbing can test your gas system for leaks.

  • • What if Centerpoint Energy took my gas meter?
  • If your meter was taken by the gas company because of a leak, you will need to hire Click's Plumbing. Within the City Limits you will need to pull a permit, test your system to locate and repair leaks, make sure all gas related items meet current plumbing law/code, and have the system inspected by the City. Outside of the City Limits you will need to test your system to locate and repair leaks, make sure all gas related items meet current plumbing law/code, and show proof to the gas company that your system is free of leaks.

  • • My gas bill was really high, but I don't smell gas.
  • The high bill is an indication of a gas leak. A small underground leak or leak in your attic can cause this and you may never smell it. You need to have your gas system pressure tested to determine if there is a problem. Click's Plumbing can take care of this for you.

  • • Is natural gas safe?
  • Yes, when installed by a professional and licensed company such as Click's Plumbing.

  • • Can I add a natural gas grill to my system?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can install a new gas line on your existing system to support a gas grill.

  • • Do you install gas to generators?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can install a new gas line from your gas meter to support new gas generator. You will most likely need to have the gas company upgrade your gas meter and regulator also.

  • • Do you install gas to pool heaters?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can install a new gas line from your gas meter to support a gas pool heater. You may need to have the gas company upgrade your gas meter and regulator also.

  • • Do you install gas lights?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can replace or install a gas light on your gas system.

  • • Can you move my natural gas meter?
  • No. The gas meter will have to be relocated by the gas company. First you will need to have a new connection from the new location to feed your home. Click's Plumbing can install the new line from the new location.

  • • Can you convert my propane gas grill to natural gas?
  • This depends on the model of your grill. Some cannot be converted. Email Click's Plumbing your brand and model information and we will let you know.

Water

  • • Do you replace water pipes?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can replace your water pipes.

  • • Do you do water leak tests?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can test your water system for leaks.

  • • Why is my water brown?
  • The two main causes are old water pipes and old tank water heaters. Old galvanized water pipes rust from the inside out. Inside of old galvanized water pipe picture.   • • Why does my water smell like rotten eggs/sulfur?
  • The most common sudden problem is that the anode rod in the tank water heater is deteriorated. This usually means that the water heater is very old and should probably be replaced. There are other things that can cause this as well. Call Click's Plumbing and we can come out to evaluate your individual situation.

  • • My water bill was really high but I don't see a leak anywhere. Why?
  • There are several things that could be causing this. You should first check that all your toilets turn off completely after they are flushed. You also may have an underground leak that flows underground where you can't see it. Click's Plumbing can assess your situation and find your problem.

  • • Why is my water pressure so low?
  • Click's Plumbing will need to isolate and perform pressure test to determine the exact cause. Most likely cause is old water piping in the house. It could also be that the city has turned down the main to preserve the old mains until they are replaced.

  • • Do you install water filters?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can install or replace water filters.

  • • Do you install water softners?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing can install your water softner.

  • • Can I get hot water faster?
  • Yes. This is usually accomplished by installing a hot water re-circulating system. You have several options depending on the setup of your home. Call Click's Plumbing for an evaluation.

  • • How can I save water?
  • There are a lot of ways to save water. It would be impossible to list them all here. But some common ways are replacing shower heads, faucet aerators, and toilets with low flow products. The new low flow products on the market today are designed so as not to diminish performance. You could also install a hot water re-circulating system to stop wasting water waiting for hot to come.

  • • Do you install sprinkler systems?
  • No. Sprinkler systems must be installed by a licensed irrigator. These companies are usually specialized. Click's Plumbing can however repair a leak on your system.

  • • Why do I hear creaking in the walls when I run the water?
  • This is generally due to the expansion and contraction of the piping as it passes through wood because the installer made the hole too small. Click's Plumbing can evaluate this situation for you.

  • • Why do I hear banging in the walls when I run the water?
  • Several things can cause this. The most common reason is that the installer didn't properly secure the piping in the wall or attic. Another cause could be that the toilet needs to be repaired. Click's Plumbing can evaluate this situation for you.

Faucets and Shower Valves

  • • What is that white crust buildup on my faucet?
  • This is mineral deposit buildup from your water. You most likely have hard water. This can cause the life of your plumbing to diminish. You should install a water treatment system. Click's Plumbing can give you some options.

  • • Why does my shower only have cold water if there is hot water everywhere else?
  • You most likely have a pressure balance cartridge in the valve. This mechanism can become corroded and not allow an even flow of hot and cold. Click's Plumbing can repair this for you.

  • • Can you fix my 30 year old faucet?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing understands that you may not want to part with your antique faucet. We take special care to preserve these items. We can find parts for most any faucet.

  • • Will any faucet fit my sink?
  • No. You will need to match up the right faucet for your sink. Click's Plumbing can help you do this.

  • • Should I buy my own faucet or let you furnish it?
  • In most cases, Click's Plumbing can furnish the faucet of your choice. Your plumber can usually get a higher quality production of the same item for about the same price you would pay for a lower quality item at a big box store. In a lot of cases all faucets of the same brand/model are not created equal. Higher quality means longer lasting without problems. We can get any model you choose or provide you with one that we recommend. Also, Click's Plumbing cannot warranty any items furnished by you.

  • • How long should a faucet last?
  • There is not a typical life span of a faucet. There are too many faucets out there and too many factors that play a role to give you an accurate general statement of life span.

Disposal

  • • Why does my disposal just hum?
  • The blades within the disposal have become jammed with a hard object. Click's Plumbing can help you with this.

  • • How long should a disposal last?
  • A typical builder's grade disposal will usually last 3-5 years. There are a lot of different models to choose from. The better the model, the longer the life. Click's Plumbing can help you choose what is right for you.

  • • Do you repair disposals?
  • Yes. Click's Plumbing performs basic repairs on disposals. We can give you options for your specific situation.

  • • My disposal won't drain but the other side of sink does. Why?
  • Most likely the disposal has become clogged with too much food. This could be a sign of a worn disposal that should be replaced. Click's Plumbing can evaluate this situation for you.

  • • Do you recommend a particular disposal?
  • In Sink Erator is our preferred brand. Click's Plumbing can help you choose the right model for you. This brand has led the industry for years.

  • • Should I buy my own disposal or let you furnish one?
  • Click's Plumbing can usually get a higher quality model for what you would pay for a lower quality model at a big box store. We can get any model you choose or provide you with one that we recommend. We cannot warranty the disposal furnished by you.

  • • Why won't my disposal do anything?
  • Your disposal has most likely become jammed and popped the reset switch. Try pushing the little red button on the bottom. After that you will probably have to dislodge the jam. Click's Plumbing can take of this for you.
